Why many don't have Health Insurance

There are approximately 47 million Americans without health insurance. And guess what? This number is only going to get bigger as each year goes by with no changes being made. The only hope is that individual states begin to cut back within their area, and that the new president also steps in to make changes.

Many people often wonder why so many don't have health insurance coverage. While everybody has a different circumstance, here are three of the most common reasons holding Americans back.

  1. The cost of health insurance is increasing, and with that, more consumers are finding that they cannot afford coverage. Barack Obama feels strongly that making health insurance more affordable will push more and more Americans into buying.
  2. Many Americans do not want to purchase health insurance because they would rather spend their money on things that are "fun.' This is where Hillary Clinton's point of view comes into play. She feels that it is necessary to make health insurance mandatory so that nobody can dodge the system because they simple don't want to pay for coverage.
  3. When somebody loses their job they also lose their benefits. With the unemployment rate on the rise, this is becoming more common. It is important for those who lose their job to pick up coverage in one way or the next. Procrastinating and living without coverage is just going to add to your personal problems, as well as those of the United States health care system.

As you can see, there are many excuses for not having health insurance. But when it comes down to it, none of these excuses are viable. No matter who you are, you need to make sure that you are covered by some sort of health care plan; even if it does not offer a high level of coverage.
