Instant Home Insurance Doesn't Exist?
I went on search of instant home insurance, being in need of a policy right away and not having tons of time to spare, I ran to the website of the hone insurance company I knew best. Of course, when I tried to sign up for an instant home insurance policy, despite the fact that I had all the relevant information readily available, I was told that someone would contact me within three business days to discuss and finalize my home insurance policy. Three business days? Maybe they just didn't understand the urgent nature of my business, since I was literally taking possession of the home the next day and I needed this home insurance policy in order to do so. So I called their handy toll free phone number.
After piddling around with their automated system for five minutes, I was finally able to get through to a "customer service representative.' She kindly informed me that instant home insurance didn't exist. Didn't exist? What was she talking about? We live in a world of instant gratification, where everything we need and want is delivered to us faster, without fail, and in any case possible, instantaneously. And yet I could not enter my information into a website, hand over my credit card information, and receive and instant home insurance policy? That seemed a little off to me.
So I said my version of a thank you to the disinterested customer service woman and I returned to the internet to validate that instant home insurance policies not only existed, but that I could get one for myself. I generally don't like to be told that I can't have what I need to make my life easier. Besides, I am trying to hand over several hundred dollars to a company to help make my life easier, and all they have to do is email me a piece of paper in return. How hard is that? You would think that I was asking these large, big service companies to send down a guardian angel direct from the Pearly Gates the way they responded to my "unreasonable request' for instant home insurance.
I suppose that it would be fair to say that I became just a little bit belligerent and the third nice customer service representative that I spoke to very quietly mumbled something about using a smaller online company if I needed or wanted instant home insurance. Of course, after a brief search on the internet and ten minutes later, I found out that instant home insurance does in fact exist. It most definitely exists for the small, online based insurance company who makes a business out of granting instant home insurance policies. Needless to say, I am now a great fan of small, online insurance companies that can deliver my instant home insurance without a great big fuss.
